NCCU to Announce New Multi-Million Dollar Grant

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- North Carolina Central University will announce details of a five-year, multi-million dollar grant from the Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, part of the National Institutes of Health, at a press conference on Monday.



The grant will be used to establish a research center for health disparities through a collaborative effort involving multiple NCCU units that will be housed at the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute.



Deepak Kumar, Ph.D., director of the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute, will serve as principal investigator for the grant.



The event will start at 3 p.m. at the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute located at 700 George Street, Durham, North Carolina.



The award will be largest annual grant amount received for a non-Title III grant.
