A man was killed when a garbage truck overturned in Harnett County

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person was killed after a garbage truck overturned in Harnett County on Thursday morning.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Darroch Road.

According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, the 1991 International trash truck was traveling west when the driver ran onto the right shoulder and lost control. The truck then overturned, ejecting a passenger and pinning him underneath the vehicle.

The victim, 47-year-old Walter Leroy Bull III, died as a result of his injuries.

Highway Patrol said the driver, 38-year-old Christopher Renwick Donaldson, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with another passenger. Both were treated and released, according to troopers.

Following an investigation, troopers will meet with the local District Attorney's Office to discuss possible charges.
