Troopers said he was walking northbound on Highway 301 around 11:15 p.m. Monday just north of Robeson County line on the Cumberland County side.

A vehicle traveling north hit him.

Authorities said Hurley had a weak pulse at the scene and was taken to the hospital.

The driver, 26-year-old Jermaine Tammerine of Fayetteville, fled the scene, according to troopers.

His vehicle was located at the home of a friend in Shannon, which is in Robeson County.

So far he has been charged with driving with a revoked licence.

The investigation is still underway and more charges are possible. Troopers said the Tammerine may not be at fault because Hurley was in the roadway.
