Woman dies after being struck in downtown Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Police said a woman who was struck by a vehicle on West Morgan Street by the Carolina Theater in downtown Durham on Wednesday night has died.

Investigators said it happened just before 10:30 p.m. when 75-year-old Katherine Leonardis and her husband Santo tried to cross the street together.

She died at the scene. Her husband was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
