RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Around the area, voters waited in long lines on the last day of early voting in North Carolina.
Everyone lined up for early voting can justify standing and waiting patiently in the cold for the opportunity to cast their ballots.
For some, there are schedule conflicts on Election Day.
"I do have to travel for work on Tuesday," said Megan Werdel. "So, voting early was a must for me."
Others take advantage of the opportunity whenever it's available.
"I'm usually an early voter because they make it convenient and it's important to get it in early. Yeah, it's been great," said Dan Werdel.
Even the cold could not keep some people home. Lee Weaver has kept up with the issues.
"Teacher's pay, and things like that. I want to make sure I cast my vote on where I stand on that issue," said Weaver. "My vote says where I stand."
The chill in the air caused slight delays getting to the polls for some voters.
"When I went outside, I turned back around and re-dressed for the occasion," said Taurus Becton.
The line moved slowly, but steadily until voters entered the warmer polling place at the Board of Elections in Raleigh. At one point, the line wrapped around the corner.
Wake County's Board of Elections Director Cherie Poucher said she was happy to be directing traffic at the busy Chavis Community Center in Raleigh. She is happy to see so many people voting early.
Your vote will count, and we count them correctly," said Poucher.
Long lines were also reported in Apex, Wake Forest, and Durham.
Early voting closed at 1 p.m. If you missed your chance to vote, polls open at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and close at 7:30 p.m.
