DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Durham Police Department said Thursday that it has made an arrest in a deadly stabbing that happened near a popular trail in April.
Christopher Cornelius Caldwell, 64, of Durham, was charged with murder. The investigation started on April 27 when officers were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. to the 3000 block of Fayetteville Street.
Officers found Howard Reade, 44, with stab wounds. He was rushed to a hospital and later died from his injuries.
Caldwell made his first appearance on Thursday, and the judge ordered that he be held without bond.
This stabbing became the second deadly stabbing near the American Tobacco Trail after another that happened a month prior.
Police responded to that one on March 9, in nearly the same spot. They said a 51-year-old man was stabbed to death.
A 46-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with that killing.
