
BENSON, N.C. (WTVD) -- The town of Benson is once again without a town manager after both its top administrators resigned this week.
Town Manager Dane Rideout stepped down after recordings surfaced on social media that allegedly captured him using profanity and making derogatory comments about town commissioners.
Just one day later, Assistant Town Manager Calla Godwin also resigned. In her resignation, Godwin cited what she described as a hostile work environment.
The back-to-back departures leave the Johnston County town without its two top leaders at a critical time.
Benson is currently facing a significant financial crisis, adding to concerns about leadership and stability within the town government.
Town officials have not yet announced interim leadership or next steps as of Friday.
