Pet rescue clinic launches fund in honor of Apex girl Brooklyn Mae Carroll
APEX, N.C. (WTVD) -- A rescue clinic is launching a fund for pets in honor of 10-year-old Brooklyn Mae Carroll, who was killed in a boat crash on Harris Lake in August.
"They wanted to fulfill her wish to help pets in need," Ericka Basile, Executive Director of Harmony Animal Rescue Clinic, said. "So we're going to try to really help her, her desire and her love and her kindness by increasing comfort and medical care to the animals that we work with."

Brooklyn set up her own lemonade stand, planning to donate her earnings to Harmony Animal Rescue Clinic in Apex. After she died last month, her parents are continuing her mission by donating the $30 she raised from her lemonade stand to help homeless pets.
Basile said the rescue clinic aims to multiply her gift.
"The $30 we're hoping to turn into $30,000," Basile said. "You can't get more real than that need and that desire to really fulfill their daughter's wish, and they brought the funds in to donate the money."
Funds raised through the campaign will provide essential veterinary services, such as vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, diagnostics and urgent medical treatment for cats and dogs in the care of local rescue organizations.
The Brooklyn Mae Pet Rescue Fund comes as two people are facing charges for the young girl's death.
