DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- The man who is charged and indicted in connection with a deadly crash that killed a 15-year-old boy in Durham in April is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Joseph Savarino faces multiple charges, including felony death by motor vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, DWI and failure to reduce speed.
The crash happened on April 18 on Cole Mill Road, just outside the Whitehall community. According to Durham police, 15-year-old Jack O'Shea was riding an e-bike northwest on Cole Mill Road when he entered the path of a Ford Explorer traveling in the same direction. Investigators say Savarino struck the teen, killing him.

Savarino was charged with Driving While Impaired on the night of the crash. Court documents show Savarino recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11 during a Breathalyzer test administered more than three hours after the crash, which is above the legal limit. The records also state Savarino told officers he had been drinking earlier that day.
In May, a month after the deadly collision, Savarino was charged with felony death by motor vehicle.
Savarino appeared in court on June 12 for the involuntary manslaughter charge. He was released on a $50,000 bond.

Savarino is the grandson of longtime Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.
