RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A North Carolina man has been arrested on federal charges after allegedly threatening to kill U.S. officials involved in immigration enforcement, according to the Department of Justice.
Prosecutors said 61-year-old Richard David Warren, of Forsyth County and formerly of Brunswick County, is accused of mailing threatening letters in June 2025 to two federal officials overseeing immigration policy.
Court documents allege Warren threatened to kill both officials, as well as the family of one, and to blow up and burn the home of another.
Warren faces three counts of threatening to murder a federal official or their family and two counts of mailing threatening communications.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison on each charge.
Federal officials say threats against government employees will be taken seriously and prosecuted.
