Man charged in deadly shooting at Patio Nightclub in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Raleigh Police arrested a 19-year-old man in a deadly shooting at a nightclub.

RPD said Friday that Jonathan David Bonilla-Ramos had been charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in the shooting that left one dead and another injured.

It happened Aug. 9 at the Patio Nightclub at 3925 New Bern Ave.

Officers found two people shot on that Saturday night. Both victims were taken to a hospital, where one later died. Court documents identified him as Christian Mercado, 24.

According to an obituary, Mercado was a "proud graduate" of Carrboro High School and had a passion for cooking and loved baseball.

This is an ongoing investigation, RPD said.
