Reported kidnapping leads to police chase, crash in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A reported kidnapping led to a police chase and crash involving a Raleigh police cruiser Tuesday night in North Raleigh.

Authorities say the incident began in a neighborhood near Lynn Road and Ray Road.

Officers were called to Lake Vista Drive after reports that a person was forced into an SUV before it drove away. Police later located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, leading to a chase.

The pursuit ended when the SUV crashed into a Raleigh Police Department cruiser near Lake Vista Drive, where officers had initially responded.

Police say one person is now in custody.

The officer in the cruiser and the woman believed to be involved were not hurt.

Police have not released the identity of the person in custody or any potential charges.
