Teen charged as an adult appears in court for takeover shooting

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The teenager facing charges in the teen takeover in Raleigh faced a Wake County judge on Monday.

Justin Brown, 16, is being charged as an adult for his alleged role in the July 4 shooting at Brier Creek.

Brown is facing one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two felony charges of discharging a weapon into occupied property, a felony count of inciting a riot, as well as two misdemeanor charges.

On Monday, he was appointed a public defender and is being held without bond.

His next court date is set for Aug. 3.
