Arrest made in Raleigh shooting that seriously injured woman

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Raleigh police are investigating a shooting that left a woman injured Tuesday evening.

Just before 6 p.m., officers responded to reports of a person shot inside a car in the 5100 block of Windy Hill Drive. When officers arrived, they found a woman in the driver's seat of a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the head and left leg.

Raleigh Police are investigating after a woman was shot Tuesday evening on the 1500 block of Windy Hill Drive.

She was taken to WakeMed and was said to be stable, according to police.

Later that same evening, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol spotted a vehicle of interest connected to the shooting at a truck stop in Davidson County. The vehicle, identified as a Jeep Grand Cherokee, was found at the Pilot Travel Center at 1210 Snider Kines Road in Linwood.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sincere Lewis, 26, was taken into custody without incident.

Lewis has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, with nine counts related to the second charge.

This is an ongoing investigation.
