Security efforts ramp up ahead of Super Bowl 50
SAN FRANCISCO (WTVD) -- Close to a million people will descend on the Bay Area during the week of Super Bowl 50, and keeping everyone safe is an enormous task.
Multiple federal and state agencies are all working together to ramp up security efforts.
"At this time we know of no specific credible threat," said Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.
Members of the media have encountered tight security at every turn. Given the recent attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, things are heightened to the Nth degree.
A CBS TV crew was robbed at gun point and had their gear stolen earlier this week. In response, the San Francisco Police Chief is making local cops available to any crew that requests extra security.
Officer Lu agreed to assist us as an example during our live report. Thankfully, we haven't needed any extra assistance.
