Slide the City is back
Slide the City is back and better than ever

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Slide the City is back in Raleigh and organizers say it will be better than ever! It's a larger-than-life Slip'N Slide that runs down Glenwood South. The event is only in its second year, but the director says organizers now know what will work best here.

For example, the start of the slide is moved a few yards down Glenwood South. Brad Behle, Slide the City's director, says his team found a higher grade to give sliders better momentum to get started. And this year, when you buy a ticket, it is for a 2 hour window. That will prevent everyone from coming at once and organizers can control the number of people going down the slide.

The slide runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. VIP tickets can ride from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Then, the 2-hour windows start. There is a limited number of all-day slide tickets. Children can slide as long as they are at least 5 years old and 46 inches tall. Slide the City crews designate 1 of the 3 lanes to kids.

You can bring lawn chairs to sit along Glenwood and watch people slide. You can also bring coolers of water. This event is billed as a Block Party complete with a DJ and face painting.
