SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Triangle man who simply needed an appliance repaired ended up with a lot more - in the form of frustration.
Rod Barlow found an appliance repair person the old-fashioned way, looking through the phone book. But while that part was easy, it wasn't so easy getting the job done that he paid for.
Barlow called Mike's Appliance Repair to fix his dishwasher, and thought he had what he needed.
"He called his supply man right there on the spot. He said he could repair it, but he'd have to order the part," said Barlow.
The part was a new circuit board, and the total cost to do the job was $386. The owner of Mike's Appliance took Barlow's dishwasher. Then Barlow waited
After Barlow contacted Mike's for months about receiving his dishwasher, he contacted the I-Team Troubleshooter for help.
"Well, I waited and waited. He didn't deliver it," said Barlow. "So I called Diane and asked her if she could help me."
We got in touch with Mike's Appliance Repair about Barlow's dishwasher and about his concerns.
"By golly, he came," Barlow said.
Barlow got his broken dishwasher back and, more importantly, his $300.
"I believe, if it wasn't for Diane, I would not have that dishwasher here or my money," he said. "So, I really, really appreciate her helping me. I really do."
The owner of Mike's Appliance Repair told me he was always going to follow through; the delay was due to him being out of town.
