The Sony Walkman from the 80's is being reborn this week with high definition sound and a price tag that's super-high by anyone's definition.

Sony's new ZX2 Walkman boasts HD sound and a price tag of $1,120. Sony claims the new Walkman comes with audio technology that "can reproduce master quality recordings" making regular, non-HD music sound better.

Sony's new, expensive Walkman is just the company's latest attempt to revive the aging music player. The original Walkman debuted in 1979 as a portable cassette player, and it revolutionized how people listen to music. Sales began to plummet in 2001 when Apple introduced the iPod and digital downloads became popular.

The new Walkman has 128 gigabytes of storage, an SD card slot and a touchscreen display. It also connects to the internet and to any number of speakers in your house with Google cast.

One drawback, CNN reports, is the fact it runs this software on a version of Android that came out in 2013 - two generations behind Android running on the newest smartphones.

The new Walkman hits the market this spring.
