FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Sandhills law enforcement agencies passed the Flame of Hope to one another in this Year's Special Olympics Torch Run Wednesday morning.
Around 8:45 a.m., a red-shirt wearing group from Robeson County rounded the Market House in Downtown Fayetteville, passing the Flame of Hope to the Fayetteville Police Department.
FPD and Fort Bragg runners made their way back down Hay Street, turning on Person Street and heading down Dunn Road until they reached the students and staff at Eastover Central Elementary School. They were accompanied on the 10 mile trek by officers and deputies on motorcycles and the Cumberland County Parks and Rec Department van, which transported cheering staff members with water, Gatorade and medical supplies.
Law enforcement agencies will carry the torch until it reaches the North Carolina State Games in Raleigh and Cary this weekend.
