CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --North Carolinastar quarterback Sam Howellmissed Saturday's 34-14 victory against Woffordwith an upper-body injury.
The junior, whodidn't dress for the Tar Heels' home finale, suffered the injury in last week's overtime loss at No. 20 Pittsburgh. It is the first time that Howell missed a game in his college career.
Howell, ranked as the No. 5 quarterback prospect for the NFL draft by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., went through Senior Day pregame festivities.
Howell has been mum about his future plans, though coach Mack Brown said Monday that this would beHowell's final home game.
Sophomore Jacolby Criswell started for the Tar Heels and threw for 125 yards, adding 66 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Freshman Drake Mayetook over after halftime and finished with 89 yards.
Howell is expected to be ready for next week's season finale at No. 25 N.C. State.
