A supermoon shone brilliantly over the weekend. The lunar phenomenon known as a perigee moon appears larger than other full moons because it's closer to Earth in its orbit.

The supermoon, which shines so bright it can be seen even during the daytime, captured the awe of people and photographers around the world on August 10, 2014.

Sunday's supermoon was the second of three this year. The third one will take place on September 9, 2014.
