One of the issues before the court involved a blood sample collected from a bathroom doorframe inside Hedgepeth's apartment that was later lost before it could be tested.
"It's just a new beginning," said Roland Hedgepeth as he watched the man accused of murdering his daughter appear in court virtually on Friday.
Faith Hedgepeth's parents finally received the call they've been praying would come since 2012. "It's been a long nine years," her father said.
