Cumberland County man charged with stealing bus batteries

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Cumberland County authorities have charged an alleged school bus battery bandit.

They say 29-year-old Christian Dawkins is behind a series of school bus battery thefts over several weeks.

Dawkins is charged with 16 counts of felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle, 16 counts of misdemeanor larceny, and 16 counts of possession of stolen goods.

Dawkins was caught in the act at one school.

Investigators said he's stolen the batteries from parked school buses at least five different times.

He's in the Cumberland County Jail under an $80,000 bond.
