Wake County drops fees for parks, nature preserves
Wake County is making it more affordable for families to enjoy its 10 parks and nature preserves.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Wake County is making it more affordable for families to enjoy its 10 parks and nature preserves.

Beginning Jan. 1, canoe rentals, wagon rides, nature programs and special hikes will be free for Wake County residents!

Fees will still apply for camps, certain tours, shelter rentals and lodge reservations.

In addition, Wake County said it will stop accepting cash. Credit and debit cards will be accepted instead.
