RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A report of a sexual assault was made at North Carolina State University late Monday, the second such case in the past three days.
Campus Police said Monday night that they got a report of the assault at Lee Hall. The victim said she and the suspect met through a dating app.
She described him as a White man, between 18-20 years old, about 6-6, 140-160 pounds with black hair. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt.
Both the victim and the suspect are students, campus police said. The suspect has been positively identified and is cooperating with authorities, an NC State spokesperson said Tuesday.
Other students expressed concerns about personal safety after the news broke in a WolfAlert.
"They talk to you about it during orientation. Just make sure you walk with friends, walk in groups," said first-year student Ani Yu. "Yeah, it is a little bit concerning. Especially because I live in Sullivan and it's right next door. Um, so people I was hanging out with last night and studying with they were pretty concerned and just kind of freaking out a little bit."
Eliza Shertzer, another freshman, said the recent sexual assault reports motivate her to be more careful.
"It was kind of scary. I was literally about to head home, like to my dorm, and we got the alert and we were both like uh, maybe that's not the best idea. It's best to stay here. So I stayed in her dorm last night," Shertzer said. "I just want to be a little bit more cautious with things. I feel maybe I wasn't being as cautious as I should have been moving forward."
Campus Police said that this latest incident does not appear to be related to an earlier sexual battery investigation at Owen Hall.
In that case, a WolfAlert was sent out Monday morning saying it took place at Owen Hall in a stairwell on Saturday night.
University police were looking for two men, but no suspects have yet been identified.
NC State Police were reviewing all security cameras in the area of Owen Residence Hall, a school spokesperson said Monday afternoon.
