Woman killed in Goldsboro shooting

GOLDSBORO (WTVD) -- Goldsboro police are investigating the death of a woman after she was found fatally shot inside her home.

Officers were called early Friday morning about shots being fired in the 300 block of Wilmington Avenue.

When they arrived, they found 49-year-old Sonya Yvonne Darden inside her home suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. EMS later declared her dead at the scene.

Further details surrounding the incident have not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
