ROBBINS, NC (WTVD) -- The man who drove his car into the back of a wood chipper killing a roadside worker Thursday died Friday morning in Chapel Hill, according to Robbins Police Chief Jeffery Sheffield.

Larry Phillips, 75, of Robbins was identified as the driver.

The Aberdeen Times reported that it's believed that Phillips had a severe medical issue develop before the accident, causing the wreck to happen.

The worker killed was setting up the wood chipper to do some contract work for the NC Department of Transportation.

He was Tony Woods, 50, of Hamptonville.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday on Plank Road near the intersection with North Rockingham Street.
