Former Olympic gold Medalist Marion Jones is making a plea to keep from going to prison.

Jones pleaded guilty in October to lying to federal investigators about her use of steroids. The former UNC Chapel Hill track star will be sentenced next week.

She could face three to six months in prison. In court papers filed Monday, Jones' lawyers asked for probation, saying her fall from grace, being stripped of her medals and wealth have been punishment enough.

The 32-year-old will be sentenced January 11.
