Upon entering the residence, the officers located a female assault victim, Christine Powell Parker, 44, who was transported to WakeMed. She later died. On Monday, autopsy results showed Parker died from strangulation.
A suspect, Robert Earl Ellis, 45, was detained at the scene and subsequently charged with murder. He was transported to the Wake County Jail.
The victim and the suspect were known to one another prior to the incident.
Information concerning the nature of the victim's injuries will be provided as the investigation progresses.
