Feds to seek death in Atwater case

A decision was announced Friday in the federal case against Demario Atwater. He's one of the men accused in the murder of UNC student body president Eve Carson.

Federal prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty against Atwater when he's tried for federal carjacking and weapons charges related to the murder.

Investigators believe Eve Carson was taken from her home, driven around, and then shot five times and dumped on a street.

Orange County DA Jim Woodall says he too will seek the death penalty in the murder trial, but Orange County juries rarely support death sentences.
