Estimated 30,000 swarm Franklin Street

CHAPEL HILL According to the The Chapel Hill Police Department, officers closed downtown streets to traffic after fans rushed to Franklin Street. The streets reopened around 1:50 a.m. and the lingering crowd cleared out between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Police said they made two arrests during the celebration. One for property damage and the other was an assault on a government official and public intoxification.

Orange County Emergency Medical Services said it responded to 26 patients ranging from minor lacerations, alcohol emergencies, burns and respiratory difficulties. Ten patients were transported to UNC Hospital.
