Police want fatal shooting suspect extradited

Authorities want to extradite Carlos Mendoza from Texas so he can face charges.Police say the 16-year-old turned himself in to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force at the Reynosa Bridge in Hidalgo, Texas on Wednesday.

Mendoza is one of six people tied to the February 26 murder of 17-year-old Alejandro Emir Denis-Terron.

Authorities say Denis-Terron was standing on Herbert Street with a group of males when the shooting occurred around 11 p.m.

Five other men are also charged with killing the teenager. Including Edgar Hernandez who turned himself in March 29 at Durham Police Headquarters. Investigators also arrested Erick Calderon, 17, on March 1 in connection with the crime. Both have been placed in Durham County Jail without bond.

Ricardo Perez, 20, Rodrigo Villegas, 19, and Jose Luviano, 16, are all still on the run.
