Accident kills driver, injures passenger

DURHAM The driver, 38-year-old Joanna Karolina Park, was fatally injured when the vehicle she was driving crashed in the 600 block of Hwy 54.

A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Joseph Phelan, was transported to Duke Hospital by Life Flight for serious injuries. He is currently listed in serious condition, but his injuries are non-life threatening.

Investigators have contributed speed as a factor in the accident.
