The kidnappers demanded money to repay them money that was lost when Angel's brother was arrested on drug charges.
Deputies say the State Bureau of Investigations, North Carolina Highway Patrol, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Wilson County Sheriff's Office, Chatham County Sheriff's Office, Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the Lee County Sheriff's Office all helped locate Mendoza-Valdovinos unharmed.
Now, Javier Vera Gonzales, 27, of Fort Pierce, Florida and 30-year-old Rivera Jaimes Rigoberto are charged with first-degree kidnapping, extortion, and felony conspiracy.
They're in the Nash County Sheriff's Office Detention Center under a $200,000 bond.
