Investigators say four West Johnston High School students riding in a silver Honda collided head-on with a green Mustang.
Now, NCHP investigators say 37-year-old Darlene Desdhenes - the driver of the Mustang - swerved over the yellow line several times while heading south on NC 50. The teen driver of the Honda, Erin Marshall, swerved to miss the oncoming car, when Desdhenes swerved back into her proper lane, the two collided.
Desdhenes will be charged with driving left of center. She and two teenage boys in the Honda were taken to Wake Med. A third boy was airlifted to Duke.
Investigators say they don't know what caused Desdhenes to swerve so many times, but that drugs and alcohol were not factors.
