H1N1 cases in Johnston, Alamance counties

JOHNSTON, ALAMANCE COUNTY

According to the North Carolina State Health Department, one case of H1N1 in Alamance County has been confirmed. This is the first case confirmed in the county.

Johnston County officials has also confirmed three more cases in the area, which only had just one case before.

Officials have not released any other details about the cases at this time.

Health experts have some tips to help slow the spread of the disease:

· Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub

· Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing

· Avoid close contact with those who are sick

· Stay at home if you are sick

Influenza-like symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea or vomiting associated with this virus.
