County unemployment climbs

Eighty-two of North Carolina's 100 counties saw unemployment rise in May.Here's the county by county breakout for the Triangle area:
  • Cumberland County ----? 9.3% (Up 0.8%)
  • Durham County ---- 8.1% (Up 0.8%)
  • Edgecombe County ---- 15.7% (Up 0.5%)
  • Franklin County ----?10.6% (Up 0.5%)
  • Halifax County? ---- 14.4% (Up 0.1%)
  • Johnston County ---- 10.2% (Up 0.1%)
  • Moore County?? ----??10.2% (Up 0.6%)
  • Nash County ---- 13.5% (Up 0.7%)
  • Northampton County?---- 11.0% (Down 0.4%)
  • Orange County? ----??6.7% (Up 0.9%)
  • Person County? ----???12.1% (Up 0.7%)
  • Wake County??----? 8.6% (Up 0.7%)
  • Warren County? ----?13.1% (Up 0.5%)

The news was expected after the statewide rate for May was announced earlier this month. The NC Employment Security Commission said it increased to 11.1 percent. That's a .3 percent increase from April.
