The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a woman has identified her son as the man who allegedly stole cigarettes. Authorities said Kenneth Kirk's mother identified him as the "Cigarette Bandit" after she saw surveillance video of him stealing cigarettes.

Video from May 19 shows 37-year-old Kirk in the manager's office at the Lake Lynn Short Stop on Gillespie Street.

The manager told police she was assisting customers when the suspect slipped into her office and stole more than $1,500 worth of cigarettes.

Surveillance shows Kirk stuffing 26 cartons of cigarettes into his blue jeans and then walking out of the store. He is wanted on charges of felonious larceny.

Anyone with information about Kirk's whereabouts is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500 or make an anonymous call to our Tipsline line at 484-TIPS (8477)
