Mull's son made it to the shore safely, but rescuers found the judge's body in about 9 feet of water and were unable to revive him.
The family was building a house near the river and was planning to move in soon.

CHARLOTTE According to the Charlotte Observer, Mull's son was swimming and began experiencing cramps. That's when the judge jumped in to save him.
