Police arrested and charged a Rocky Mount gas station clerk with staging a robbery at the store where she worked. Teresa Goff Honeycutt, 46, is charged with larceny by employee and filing a false police report.

Police say on August 19, Honeycutt called police to report a robbery at the Kangaroo gas station on Sunset Ave.

She told officers she was about to go make a $6,000 bank deposit when two black men approached her from behind, pushed her to the ground and stole the bank bag from her purse.

Honeycutt was unable to provide any information to the officers regarding suspect descriptions, their direction of travel when they left the store or their mode of travel. The investigation revealed the story was false.

Honeycutt's bond is set at $3500.
