Police investigating man's death

RALEIGH Authorities said around 6 p.m. they were called to 2700 W. Hampton Place to check on the man.

According to Raleigh Police Public Information Officer Jim Sughrue, when they arrived they found the man dead. Authorities later determined it to be a homicide.

Officials identified the man as 48-year-old Jurgen Dietmar Cheston.

Cheston's pickup truck, a dark blue 2001 Ford Ranger, was found overnight in the 3800 block of Brentwood Road with the license plate removed.

Authorities said they did not know when the crime happened, but Cheston's co-workers told police that they had not seen him in about a week.

Detectives are investigating and said they are interested in talking to anyone who knew Cheston, or anyone who may have information about the crime.
