New member joins anti-corruption group

News and Observer president Orage Quarles has joined the Foundation for Ethics in Public Service.Former state auditor Les Merritt and former FBI special agent Frank Perry are running the foundation.

It collects tips on government corruption.

Quarles became president and publisher of the Observer in 2000. He's also the former chairman of the Newspaper Association of America.
