The robber hit the Wachovia Bank on West Main Street at Ninth Street.
Police say the man never showed a weapon, but handed the teller a note demanding money.
No one was injured and the suspect took off on foot.
Police describe the suspect as an African American man with a brown jacket, dark sunglasses, a ball cap and blue jeans.
They also say he was carrying a bag similar to a laptop bag over his shoulder.
