Two Lejeune Marines killed in Afghanistan

Officials from Camp Lejeune say two Marines have died while serving in Afghanistan. Both were conducting combat operations in Hemland province, Afghanistan.

Pfc. Jason H. Estopinal, 21, of Dallas, Ga., died Feb. 15 and Corporal Jacob H. Turbett, 21, of Canton, Mich., died Feb. 13.

Estopinal was a rifleman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. He entered the Marine Corps in February 2009, and was promoted to the rank of private first class on Aug. 1, 2009.

He deployed to Afghanistan in December 2009.

His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and a number of other service decorations.

Turbett was a combat engineer assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division. He entered the Marine Corps in January 2007, and was promoted to the rank of corporal on Nov. 1, 2009.

He served in Iraq from September 2008 to March 2009, and deployed to Afghanistan in December 2009.

His awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and a number of other service decorations.
