Police seeking 'peeping' person of interest

FAYETTEVILLE Detectives say the "Peeping Tom" appears to be getting more brazen in his behavior.

Investigators say the suspect is wanted in connection with a peeping incident and a sexual assault earlier this week. Both incidents happened within minutes of each other early Monday morning on Bear Creek Circle.

The victims in the two incidents were teenage girls. Both gave police a suspect description, but it is not very detailed.

The suspect in the two crimes is described as a man who was wearing a black fitted hat, shorts and no shirt.

Tuesday, police released a composite sketch of the man.

Earlier this month on Winnabow Drive, one neighborhood over from the most recent incidents, police say two peeping incidents and attempted break-in were reported.

Authorities canvassed the same street last Friday, going door to door passing out safety flyers and talking with residents about the crimes and asking them what they know.

Police say they are increasing some neighborhood patrols in the area and warn until the suspect is in custody everyone needs to stay on the alert.

While Winnabow Drive residents say they feel better with a stepped up police presence, they still say they are watching out now for each other and for trouble.

If you have information about any of the crimes, call the Fayetteville Police Department at 433-1856 or 483-TIPS.
