The Chatham County Sheriff's Office says it's charged a Bear Creek man with trying to burn his girlfriend's home.

Keith Allen Green, 47, was arrested Monday afternoon in a home at 7000 Siler City Glendon Road.

Deputies said they found Green sitting on the front porch of the home drinking beer after responding to a suspicious fire call.

They went to the back of the house and found a fire and several personal items destroyed and scorched.

They walked through the home and found numerous items damaged including a television, computer, and clothes.

They said it appeared the Green dumped gallons of gasoline inside the home and prepared to set it on fire.

Green’s girlfriend was not at home at the time.

Green is charged with felonious second-degree arson, felonious burning of personal property, and communicating threats.
