Officers were called to the 500 block of Canal Street just before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday after someone heard gunshots.
There they found a 24-year old man who had been shot lying dead on the steps in front of a house at 507 Canal Street. Another man, who is 28-years old, was also found shot. Police said the second man was taken to Duke Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The identities of the men and further details about what happened have not yet been released.
