Police hunt robbers in woods

WAKE COUNTY

The hunt began after Morrisville police said a driver and a passenger in a car drove up next to a person in a parking lot at The Legends of Preston apartment complex and pointed a gun at the person before demanding money.

The person ran and the robbers got nothing.

"Then I seen a dozen or more cop cars," said resident Ruby Marsh. "All those blue lights flashing."

The alleged robbers bailed out from their car near I-540 and were seen running into the wooded area by a DOT work crew on Slater Road.

Officers with the Morrisville Police Department, Wake County Sheriff's Office, RDU Police, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol all took part in the hunt.

A NCHP helicopter was also in use, but the men were not immediately captured.
