The school district says it believes it's a way to save money, but still offer a solid education.
But, most of the parents who turned out to Monday's meeting disagree.
"The studies are there standard middle school," parent Jerry Polston said.
"I understand, I am glad they care about our schools, but we do have to look at what's best for our students this is the best move for our students," said Deb McManus with the Chatham County Board of Education.
Several people who support the reconfiguration also spoke before the board Monday night.
Another meeting will be held Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Chatham Central High School in Bear Creek.
