Commission approves school land buy

The Durham County Board of Commissioners approved a plan Monday night to purchase land that could be home to the county’s next high school.

The 60-acre site, which is located at 2900 Duke Homestead Road, is currently owned by Duke University.

Commissioners voted to pay four million dollars for the land.

The money comes from a 2007 voter-approved bond.

The county plans to sit on the property until it is needed.
